For many people, a trip to the dentist is not a pleasant experience, but Underwood Events developed a grand opening celebration for a local dental group that brought a smile to everyone’s face, especially the 17 doctors who were introducing their incredible new location to the community.
The evening was branded, Dentists After Dark, and it brought together almost 200 local VIPs, community members and vendor partners for the unveiling of the doctors’ new 55,000 square-foot dental office. Underwood Events was able to develop a detailed plan in a short window of time, and worked alongside the practice’s ad agency, S2K Advertising, on this branded event so it would be as grand as the new office it celebrated.
Guests were led to a lower level meeting room so well appointed that it rivals many hotel ballrooms. It was awash in a palette of bright green and fuchsia hues that were projected onto walls, splashed across tables, and bursting out of gift bags emblazoned with the Dentists After Dark image. Green apples added an unexpected yet sophisticated punch to floral arrangements and to tall glass hurricanes, a subtle reference to the fruit’s whimsical reputation for “keeping the doctor away.” Impeccable white sofas in intimate groupings, brought in especially for the event, were topped with custom-embroidered throw pillows. Stately freestanding lighted props, also imprinted with the practice’s logo, contributed additional interest and lighting to the room.
Beyond the spectacular ambiance, Underwood Events was strategic about the layout of different amenities to draw guests to various parts of the practice. To encourage guests to participate in the tours going on throughout the night upstairs, a unique Shot-And-A-Brat appetizer station was set up on the second floor and quickly became the talk of the evening. Appetizers were tray passed so guests could enjoy delicious cuisine while they continued to mingle. Keeping with the scheme, a signature apple cocktail, in vivid green, carried the theme right into the full-service bar.
But perhaps the most-talked-about aspects of the event were in the background - literally! In what could truly be called life-as-art, 900 backlit toothbrushes, strung end-to-end, flowed from the ceiling, attracting guests to the stage area to take photos and marvel at this creative element. In another area, a custom photo booth with a logo-patterned background became a gathering spot for attendees who wanted to show their pearly whites. The night was such a success and the doctors so pleased with the return on investment, they decided to host two additional grand opening events for patients and employees, and approached Underwood Events to plan and manage them as well.
